Ye Qin Zhu
Born 1986 in Taishan, China
Based in Brooklyn, NY, and New Haven, CT
Born in China in 1986, Ye Qin Zhu and his family immigrated to Sunset Park, Brooklyn, in 1990. He received his BFA from The Cooper Union in 2010, and his MFA from Yale in 2020, and has exhibited widely at galleries in the United States, China, and the United Kingdom. A multidisciplinary artist, Zhu has developed an extremely varied body of work across painting, sculpture, and public installations. At the heart of his practice are questions about identity, displacement and belonging, and vitally a search for healing, for personal and social meditation and renewal. Zhu's means of addressing these themes vary as much as the media he employs to do so, incorporating iconographic, symbolic, and abstracted imagery throughout bodies of work and within individual pieces to further his line of inquiry and bridge the contextual divide between himself and his audience.
