Hend Samir is an Egyptian painter based in Amsterdam. Born in 1986, she graduated from the Helwan University of Fine Arts in 2008, and was the recipient of the Dutch Royal Award for Modern Painting, 2021. Recent solo presentations include Art Basel Statements, Basel, Switzerland (2023), Felix Art Fair, Los Angeles (2023) Hide and Seek, Harkawik New York (2022), Frieze London (2021), Running in a Skewed Daydream, Harkawik Los Angeles (2021), Hula Hoop Labyrinth, Gallery Misr (2018). Group exhibitions include Gladys Nilsson & Hend Samir, Parker Gallery, Los Angeles (2024), NADA Miami, Miami, FL (2023), Daydreaming pressed against a fence, Harkawik Los Angeles (2023), NADA Miami, Miami, FL (2021), the 7th Cairo Video Festival at Medrar Gallery (2017), Photo Cairo 6 at CIC (2016). Internationally, her work has been featured in exhibitions in the US, Sweden, Spain and the Netherlands. Samir recently completed a residency at the Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, Amsterdam, Netherlands.
