Born in Los Angeles in 1998, Matt Reiner is an artist who lives and works in Philadelphia. Coming from a background in theology and continental philosophy, his work responds to modernist histories of abstraction and the utopian reimagining attendant to it. He received a BA from Yale University in 2020. Since graduating he has worked as an educator in various capacities, spending most of 2021 in Marfa, Texas where he worked at the Chinati Foundation. Since then he moved to Philadelphia where he teaches painting at local art centers. Recent exhibitions include: Sarah Esme Harrison & Matt Reiner at Greenwoods, 2058 in 2022, Yard Sale at Serving the People in 2021, and Unfinished at the Yale School of Art in 2021. His work was featured in issue #157 of New American Paintings.
