Born in Bonn in 1972, Cologne based artist Robert Kraiss studied with Georg Herold and Oswald Wiener at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 2000-2006. He has exhibited his art widely across Europe, as well as has his music, having performed in Germany, Switzerland, and Turkey. Kraiss produces energetic, densely packed drawings of vivid color and diverse mark making. In many pieces broad regions of contiguous color slip into one another as smoothly transitioning gradients, while sitting just on the other side of a dividing line everything is made of minute pointillist dots. Whether abstract or representational, Kraiss creates works rife with contrast, with the evidence of his hand and his choices in color and composition suggesting an internal frenzy from which his art is born
